Thankful

We’re just a few days away from Canadian Thanksgiving (Oct 9 this year). Every year my family and our guests take a large piece of orange bristol board and write down a few things that we’re thankful for. We put these on the wall around our dining room table so that we can be mindful of them as we enjoy our meal and our time together.

Since October of last year and this year all of this has happened, and more that I can’t remember!

  • walked 5K with my family to raise money to fight Lewy Body Dementia (October 2016)
  • donated 8 inches of hair to “Pantene Beautiful Lengths.” Hair is used to craft beautiful, high-quality wigs (free of charge) for women affected by hair loss from cancer.
  • went to Halifax with my husband for a conference (April)
  • celebrated my grandmother’s 96th birthday (April)
  • dyed my hair pink to celebrate the one year anniversary of a strike (July)
  • became the mother of a teenager! (July)
  • went to a baby shower for my first niece on my husband’s side (August)
  • my paternal grandfather died, I was at his bedside (September)
  • started training to become a Hospice volunteer (September)
  • began a leave of absence from work to be present for my children (October 2017)

This year I am thankful:

  • that God’s grace is enough
  • that my God shall supply all my needs
  • for my husband’s unwavering love
  • that my children are healthy
  • that I can still spend quality time with my grandmother
